Massage with Cupping

Cupping is a traditional Chinese technique that creates negative pressure through suction on the skin, versus tissue compression techniques that are normally used during a massage.  This process pulls the blood to the surface, which can improve circulation and promotes various healing benefits.  Cupping therapy can aid in relieving joint stiffness and sore muscles, and may reduce inflammation for a variety of chronic and acute conditions. It's not unusual to notice slight redness or discoloration on the treatment sites,however, this is a normal reaction and will clear up within a few days.

Massage with Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a manual technique used in Chinese Medicine, targeting areas with a smooth a scrapping tool.  This will loosen the fascia and chronically tight areas, and can produce relief from lasting pain, or from short term muscular pain.  At StGeorgeMassage, we generally use gua sha on the neck, shoulders, and upper back, but not limited too.  Substantial pain relief from gua sha can be profound.  Similar to cupping, expect to have site redness which will clear up within a few days
